for the study and conservation of traditional Venetian boats
Arzanà is the ancient name of the Venetian state Arsenal handed down by Dante in the Divine Comedy. Arzanà is also a non-profit association whose statutory purpose is the study, restoration and conservation of the traditional boats of the Venice lagoon.
The Arzanà Association has its social and museum headquarters in one of the oldest Venetian "squeri da sotil", the Squèro Casal ai Servi. As various historical sources testify, including the famous perspective view by Jacopo De Barberi (1500), it appears to have been in activity since the end of the 15th century.
